Kale, squash, peaches…oh my! Can you believe I have never been to a farmer’s market in San Juan County? Every Saturday morning at our local museum, tents spring up throughout the parking lot and red checkered blankets are draped across tables. Many people know about this local gem and bring their totes to pick up fresh veggies and fruits for the weekend.
I didn’t realize San Juan County has roughly 2 1/2 million acres of farmland! Woah…no wonder why our farmer’s market is packed on the weekends. Also, these vendors are straight up local – only farmers within a 100-mile radius from Farmington, New Mexico can sell their produce.
Today, I bought gluten-free cinnamon chip bread from Great Harvest Bakery, kale, blackberries, and local honey. I even baked kale chips, sprinkled with Cajun seasoning…delicious! This simple recipe will be coming soon.
